Feeding Time at the Zoo

Well, I can't say that this was their first solid food, but we're getting closer. Today's first meal of rice cereal and formula was an unmidigated success! Both babies, after much prompting, "ate" their entire tablespoon. Tilly ate most of hers off her bib and Ellie(new spelling) liked hers so much that she ate each spoonful 3 or 4 times! Here are some after pics and some from last week. Thanks to Michella Capellea for the audio vis help.

Tilly ate most of her meal by having the food shoved into her mouth and then the pacifier. Worked well. Ellie did pretty well, but needed the spoonful inserted numerous times for completion.

We think their socks look like 60's go-go boots when they're pulled up like that. And I love the picture of Tilly and me on our chair. Daddy/Daughter Day!!

A Cold Week

(Thanks for the awesome blanket cousin Chris!) The girls are in the midst of their first cold, but seem to be handling it well. We took them to the doctor just to make sure all was well, and she thinks they'll be on the mend soon. They enjoy letting out a big yell after they cough a few times, which is funny, and makes them seem much sicker than they probably are. We also found out their weight today(Mon. 1/5). Matilda is 13 lbs. 14.5 oz and Elinor is 14.5 lbs. So they are still less than a pound apart and Matilda still seems a bit taller, although they won't measure them until their 6 month check up (the end of January).
We had to take Tilly back to the doctor today (Wed. 1/7) because one of her finger nails got infected, but it's really fine. She does weigh 14 lbs. 1 oz now. She gained 3 ounces in 2 days. Pretty impressive. She even smiled and laughed at the doctor after the terrible finger squeezing. Such a little trooper.

The girls are growing fast and having lots of fun. They enjoyed spending time with their Tiggeman/Bath family over the winter break. They were great on the drive to and from San Antonio and stayed on the routine while we were there. Their furry cousin Isobel seemed to be a huge fan of them. Isobel is a typically shy grayhound, but she followed the babies around everywhere (except when they cried). It was fun to watch.

We're getting back to normal at home and hopefully we'll all be well again soon. We have a cute video of Elinor playing with their new toy, but it won't upload. Whenever they see it, they start moving their hands. It's really fun. Here are a few new pictures:

Screamfest

The first uploaded video from our new video recorder. Thanks mom for sitting through the technology training to obtain aforementioned device. This is Tilly Screaming. Right now I'd say it's her favorite, although don't overlook her love of drooling. We'll try to capture some precious and rare video of both of them screaming for fun at 5:30 am, their favorite time to scream. If only we could get little Emma Candy, too then we'd have the Three Tenors! Also look for video of the girls learning to play with toys.

4 Months is a Special Time

Hey Guys/Well Wishers,

Well the girls are 4 months old and doing great. Their interests include looking at the purple mobile, stuffing their fists into their months as much as physically possible, turning their heads quickly while parents attempt to provide nourishment and of course kicking. Seriously, they are doing so wonderfully. They are sleeping and smiling. Their favorite time of day is 5:30 in the morning. I swear you've never seen any two people happier to be alive before dawn than these tow ladies. It's pretty endearing. Alright, no new pictures since last time, but with a trip out to Abby's parents on Wed. and my parents coming up on Fri. me thinks that we'll have some by next weekend!

Here are the results from Tuesday's doctor visit: general good health. Tilly: 23 3/4 inches and 12 lbs 5 oz. Elly: 23 1/2 in. and 12 lbs 13 oz. That puts them in between the 25th and 50th percentile.

Fall Back to Sleep

The girls are almost 4 months old now, Nov. 22nd will the the big day. They are enjoying a wide range of activities these days including smiling, a lovely laugh/squeal combo, a bit of cooing ("agoo"), and watching themselves in the mirror. Tilly seems the most interested in the baby in the mirror. She was quite amazed when the baby yawned last night. Elly discovered the baby sitting next to her today (Tilly) and had fun smiling at her. Over the past few days they've also enjoyed smiling at their toys. They have a great time in Becca's jungle bouncy chair, the moving animals are very exciting. On our last visit to Nene and Papa's the girls had a very unofficial weight of around 11 pounds each, but we'll head to the doctor on the 25th for a more accurate number. The girls are getting to be quite fun and the best part is that they are really starting to sleep well in the evenings. They go down between 6-7 and then we wake them up and feed them between 9-10. Then they go back to sleep until about 3-4am, when James and I repeatedly re-pacifier the babies until about 5am. The best part is that they are back to sleeping in their port-a-cribs next to the bed, which means James and I get more than a 1/4 of the bed each. Good times. Here are some new pics and James will add some video tomorrow.
