4 Months is a Special Time

Hey Guys/Well Wishers,

Well the girls are 4 months old and doing great. Their interests include looking at the purple mobile, stuffing their fists into their months as much as physically possible, turning their heads quickly while parents attempt to provide nourishment and of course kicking. Seriously, they are doing so wonderfully. They are sleeping and smiling. Their favorite time of day is 5:30 in the morning. I swear you've never seen any two people happier to be alive before dawn than these tow ladies. It's pretty endearing. Alright, no new pictures since last time, but with a trip out to Abby's parents on Wed. and my parents coming up on Fri. me thinks that we'll have some by next weekend!

Here are the results from Tuesday's doctor visit: general good health. Tilly: 23 3/4 inches and 12 lbs 5 oz. Elly: 23 1/2 in. and 12 lbs 13 oz. That puts them in between the 25th and 50th percentile.

Fall Back to Sleep

The girls are almost 4 months old now, Nov. 22nd will the the big day. They are enjoying a wide range of activities these days including smiling, a lovely laugh/squeal combo, a bit of cooing ("agoo"), and watching themselves in the mirror. Tilly seems the most interested in the baby in the mirror. She was quite amazed when the baby yawned last night. Elly discovered the baby sitting next to her today (Tilly) and had fun smiling at her. Over the past few days they've also enjoyed smiling at their toys. They have a great time in Becca's jungle bouncy chair, the moving animals are very exciting. On our last visit to Nene and Papa's the girls had a very unofficial weight of around 11 pounds each, but we'll head to the doctor on the 25th for a more accurate number. The girls are getting to be quite fun and the best part is that they are really starting to sleep well in the evenings. They go down between 6-7 and then we wake them up and feed them between 9-10. Then they go back to sleep until about 3-4am, when James and I repeatedly re-pacifier the babies until about 5am. The best part is that they are back to sleeping in their port-a-cribs next to the bed, which means James and I get more than a 1/4 of the bed each. Good times. Synchronized Swimming!

Here are the ladies, they love to kick. They especially like kicking you in the ribs and such. Just now Sirus got kicked off the couch by the girls. We don't want to jinx anything, but the new formula seems to be kind of, sort of working, but let's not over sell anything for fear of regression. Oh, it's their 3 month birthday today! YES! Sleeping is going great, Elinor has been going between 4 and 8 hours at night and Matilda's not far behind. So that's amazingly wonderful. The girls had an exciting time at the Gilbert Family Picnic! Here's the girls dressed up for their first "winter" walk. Watch out mildly cool weather! We're on to you!

Off With A Bang!

Well, October started off as bad as September ended, but another trip to the doctor and new formula have risen the hopes of Mama and Bottleman, (that's what the girls like to call their daddy. It is so cute when they say "Oh, Bottleman, you so crazy giving me all dem bottles and such.") News from the doctor: Matilda: 9 lbs, 15 oz. (since they gain an ounce a day, she's probably already 10 lbs) Elinor: 10 lbs 3 oz.

A September to Remeber!

Septebmer, sorry to say but no one will miss you and everyone hated you! Phew! What a rough month. Projectile vomiting, flipping out during bottles, not sleeping during the day or night. If you've seen one of their feedings when they are not happy then you know.

The doctor diagnosed the girls with Acid Reflux. That's why they've been so unhappy during their bottles. And we've just switched them to nonlactose folmula that has stemed the tide of vomit, also it's cheaper so that's a "win, win!" Unfortunately, it smells like month old pumpkin mush so we were denied the conveted "win, win, win" that is so sot after. Mmmm...sot is a funny word, doesn't look right.

Anyways the good news is that October is here and with it cooler nights and hope. With medicince and new formula things have really gotten better.

The girls are coming up on 11 weeks now. Despite the continual spitting and throwing up they are gaining plenty of weight. Matilda is now over 9 lbs and 21 1/2 inches. Elinor is a wopping 9 1/2 pounds and 20 3/4 inches long. With the extra "height" (is it really height if they spend their days scrunched up in a ball?) and the derth of weight Tilliford looks pretty skinny compared to Elinor. Both girls have 38 cm heads.

The good news about the numbers, other than they've gained like 3 pounds in a month, is that the ladies are now on the all important percentile scale!!! Yes! Now we can compare they to other babies in an endless discussion of "who's baby is better" with other parents. (Their weight and height are around the 5th and 10th percentiles and their heads are in the 25th so we got little bobble babies)

Babies also took advantage of free museum day, thanks Tien and Long, and went to the Nasher Sculpture Museum. Abby's baby, I can't tell the difference, looked at the art the whole time. My baby mostly slept. We were both pleased with the respective outcomes.

This weekend we went to the FW zoo and saw the baby lions and tigers. The lions were born two days after the girls, so the friends.

The girls are doing fine. Not much news. We'll go to the doctor pretty soon and they're coming up on 2 months old. Look at how big they're getting! They are basically out of premie clothes although to telll the truth its just that they have gianormous bellies, everything else is quite slinder and form fitting.
